The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the first of two sacraments of healing.  This is the sacrament of spiritual healing for baptized persons who have distanced themselves from God as a result of sins committed.  There are four elements to the sacrament:

 - contrition or sincere remorse for wrongdoing

 - confession to a priest

 - absolution by the priest

 - penance

Reconciliation schedule is located in the left column on each page of the web site.

First Reconciliation

The parish preparation program for Reconciliation consists of these components:

- Since parental involvement in catechesis is essential in the on-going formation of the child, a Reconciliation Prep Night is required for the parent/guardian and the child receiving the sacrament on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 6:30-8:00pm.

- The child must attend PSR/Catholic School regularly and actively participate in a two-year preparation period.

- Reconciliation preparation begins in grade one and the immediate preparation in grade two.

First Reconciliation for all 2nd graders will be celebrated as a Parish Communal Reconciliation Service on January 15, 2011.

CRITERIA FOR READINESS

The candidate:

  1. 1. Can distinguish accident, inappropriate behavior, and sin according to the child’s age.
  2. 2. Must acknowledge sin.
  3. 3. Expresses sorrow for sin.
